Governor Rick Scott declared January 4-8, 2016 “Florida First Responder Appreciation Week”, and on Thursday the 7th, Tallahassee Community College’s Public Safety Institute, hosted a ceremony honoring them.
Prayer, song, applause, and the whirring of a helicopter flyover filled the ears of those who attended the event.
First responders from all across the Big Bend showed up to not only be recognized but also to honor those who have fallen in 2015.
“I think the essence of what this ceremony is all about is taking time for each of us to get together with each other and share an appreciation and a pat on the back for thanks to each of the folks that we work with on a regular basis,” said Tallahassee Community College President Jim Murdaugh.
