We are pleased to announce that the National Mine Rescue Association is celebrating 100 years of Mine Rescue support in 2024. The NMRA was “organized” at a meeting in Leisenring PA on September 6, 1924. Charter members included George S. McCaa well known for the McCaa breathing apparatus used in many Mine Rescue operations in the 20th century.
We are planning some special recognitions in 2024 for this milestone.
- One will be a challenge coin which will be given to the teams at the National Mine Rescue competition in Lexington KY this August.
- We will be producing a booklet noting some special historical information regarding the NMRA.
- We will be holding a Banquet with guest speakers on 23 November 2024 at the Hollywood Casino in Meadowlands PA. This is the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Please save this date. More information regarding Banquet including times, menu and meal price will be sent soon.
- We have reserved some rooms at the Hollywood Casino Hotel for the Banquet date. Reference G-NMRA or NMRA Group event when making hotel reservations.
- We are looking for sponsors to help us with the costs for these happenings. Each sponsor will have space in the NMRA Anniversary Booklet. Further information regarding the sponsorship program will be forthcoming.
We hope you will be able to attend this special event on 23 November. We especially would like to see Mine Rescue Teams in attendance.
